3rd Annual Geneva Jazz Festival
Artist : Dave Solazzo (Piano) with Matthew Vacanti (Upright Bass)
Dave Solazzo has been a mainstay of Central New York's music scene for over two decades. Much in demand as a soloist and sideman, Dave has worked with artists from a wide mix of genres - jazz, fusion, R&B and beyond. He has performed and recorded with major jazz figures like Eric Alexander, Chuck Mangione, Larry Coryell, Joel Frahm, Dick Oatts, Jerry Weldon and Joe Magnarelli at venues like The Flatiron Room (NYC), Troy Music Hall, the Savannah Jazz Festival and the Syracuse Jazz Fest.
In addition to his work as a sideman, Dave leads his own trio, playing modern interpretations of jazz standards and original compositions in the spirit of Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.
Dave was educated at Berklee College of Music and SUNY Purchase College. He has taught Jazz History at Cayuga Community College in Auburn, New York and Jazz Piano at Colgate University. He currently teaches Jazz Piano at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. https://davesolazzo.com/
Matthew Vacanti is a highly accomplished bass player. Matt's training in classical bass has helped him become a first-call bassist in Central New York for string, fretless and fretted bass. He can bow a beautiful solo on an upright, then turn around and slap a funky backbeat on electric. Over the years he has worked with Joey DeFrancisco, Ron Jackson, Kevin Mahagony, Willie and Lobo and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas to name a few.
Matt is a skilled recording engineer and record producer as well. He started Spider Records back in 1990 and has produced many Sammy (Syracuse Area Music) award-winning records for CNY musicians. In this respect, Matt is the driving force behind all the E.S.P. records since the creation of the band.
As a composer and arranger, Matt has penned a sizable catalogue of music for jazz as well as educational compositions for school orchestras. https://www.facebook.com/matthew.vacanti/
